North American Corsair 31-1D Class Association
What the Owners are saying...
...I can really use the boat for racing or cruising, with that interior layout. I especially like the v-berth and head combo. I installed a portable head easily, and the whole bow cabin is practical and flexible.... The main cabin is clean, all white and has a spacious, uncluttered fell. The chart table is a nice feature... On the deck, the sailing/racing hardware is all there. Nothing is missing. This is an amazing package... we're getting an "out of the box" boat speed that is truly amazing... Give my thanks to the Corsair team for developing the 31-1D. It will be a successful class. I'm glad to be the owner of the first one. Daniel Piche, Georgia
The brand new 2004 Corsair 31-1D extreme racing machine is Corsair's newest version of the venerable Corsair 31. Boasting what is arguably the best racing performance and handling a production sailboat can offer, it is ideal for the experienced sailor who wants the ultimate performance on the race course, faster than a 70-footer with a crew of three or four (that's affordable!). It comes only in the extended Aft-cockpit configuration, and enhanced performance comes from the streamlined interior void of cruising amenities, a carbon-fiber rig, retractable bowsprit, modified foil design, and a suite of racing sails including asymmetrical spinnaker and screacher. For the first time in Corsair Marine history, all new Corsair 31-1Ds will be delivered with a set of its one-design racing rules and specifications and certification that on delivery it fulfils these requirements. This new Corsair 31-1D is, as always, a dream to sail, trailer and launch.
Soon, there will be enough Corsair 31-1Ds to form a Class Association and show six or more boats at one-design starts in major and prestigious regattas. In order to do this, the owners of these new boats will want to volunteer to fill the following positions for two years, and then, as the fleet grows, hold elections for officers. For the time being, Anna at Corsair Marine is compiling the names of volunteer officers and will keep this site up to date with all N.A. Corsair 31-1D Class Association news and developments. Please contact Anna to take office and spread the news: corsair@corsairmarine.com.
