Corsair 2012 Nationals & Rendezvous hosted by Screwpile Regatta

The 2012 Corsair Nationals in the USA will be hosted by the Screwpile Regatta from 15-17 July at Solomons, Maryland.

Corsair Marine, together with our US Dealer Netork, is delighted to announce that the 2012 Corsair Nationals & Rendezvous will be hosted by the Screwpile Lighthouse Challenge from 15-17 July at Solomons, Maryland, USA.

Phil Johns, Marketing Manager for Corsair Marine said that this was an incredibly exciting initiative designed to open up the Corsair Nationals to Corsair owners and friends all around the country.

Corsair’s trimarans have an amazing ability to bring families and friends together. This is further facilitated by the fact that our trimarans are so easily put on a trailer and driven over land to new destinations. However, while the trailerability aspect does shrink distances, the US remains an incredibly vast country. Accordingly, it is only fair and reasonable that, once again, the Corsair Nationals moves around the country to build upon our existing numbers and to share the excitement of sailing Corsair trimarans with new people.

“The vision for the Corsair Nationals is simple”, said Johns. “We want to recognise and celebrate those with a passion for Corsair’s trimarans. We want to move it around the country so that more people feel a sense of ownership of this great brand and event. And in 2013, we also want to travel to San Francisco in the lead up period to when those ‘somewhat bigger multihulls’ are buzzing around! What a spectacle that will be!”

• The Screwpile Lighthouse Challenge offers some great benefits for the Corsair Nationals. It offers the opportunity to race in one of the biggest sailing precincts in the USA with a first class racing committee.

With organisers hopeful that at least 50 Corsairs will attend, it will be a real and visible class – that will also boost the overall numbers significantly for the Screwpile which will be great for both parties.
