San Diego Winter Series - Cortez Racing...
Monday November 21st, 2011
The performance sailing clinic in San Diego Bay was well attended and reached max capacity with participants coming from as far away as Vancouver, BC, and New York City, NY.
The event was designed to teach specific techniques on how to get the most safety, speed and enjoyment out of a Corsair Trimaran
Both Friday and Saturday consisted of three hours of on-shore instruction followed by three hours of on the water coaching. I spent time on each of the boats on the water helping to get the boat and participants 'dialed in'.
The clinic was a huge success and everyone agreed they were sailing faster and with more confidence after the two intensive days of training.
As an added bonus, for those that had time, West Coast Multhulls took participants from the clinic out on a Seawind Catamaran (Seawind is the parent company of Corsair Marine) to view, up close and personal, the AC-45s racing in San Diego Bay (click here for photos from Sail World.com). In addition, we also had the special appearance of Air Force One flying over the top of a Corsair 28 which made for an exciting time in San Diego!
The next clinic, scheduled for April 2012, will focus on the proper use of spinnakers and screechers, Be sure to sign up early if interested as the clinic will fill up quickly.
