The 2011 Margaritville Trimaran Rendezvous and Nationals, USA are nearly here, running from Sunday, 1 May - 5 May 2011.

www.gulfsailing.com reports:

PENSACOLA BEACH, FL - The Margaritaville Beach Hotel (165 Fort Pickens Rd., Pensacola Beach, FL) and Pensacola Beach Yacht Club (1897 Cypress Street, Pensacola, FL) will be hosting the 17th Annual US Trimaran Rendezvous and National Championships on May 1 - 5. Participating teams are registered from as far north as Canada, from 14 states, and from New Zealand.

The Weta Class Association has sanctioned this event as their South East Championship and will be sailing a race track on Santa Rosa Sound off Quietwater Beach and the Boardwalk. The larger Corsair and Farrier trimarans will race on the open waters of Pensacola Bay. Spectator craft are welcome to enjoy the racing from the privacy of their own vessels, however, we ask that operators maintain a safe distance from the racing sailboats. We also request that pleasure craft maintain slow speeds and use caution when in the racing areas.

Along with the generous support from the Margaritaville Beach Hotel, we are pleased to announce that Corsair Marine has agreed to serve as our Golden Anchor Sponsor for the 17th year. Farrier Marine and Weta Florida have offered to serve as Silver Anchor Sponsors. Local, supporting sponsors include, Key Sailing, Zern Rigging, Schurr Sails, Windcraft, NorBanks, and Smyth Sails.

In addition to the daily racing and cruising, seminars and clinics will be provided by Hunter Riddle on sailmaking, Rick Zern and David Johnson on safe, high performance rigging solutions, and Randy Smyth, Olympic Silver Medalist, on speed tuning and race track strategies for sail selection and trim.

Regatta check - in and final registration will be held out of Pensacola Beach Yacht Club on the afternoon of Sunday, May 1. Also on Sunday, the Welcome Party and the Skippers' Meeting will be held at the Yacht Club at 7:00 PM. A long distance race to Juana's Pagoda for lunch, with the return Race afterwards, is planned for Monday. Buoy racing will be staged on Tuesday - Thursday.
